Graphics Card

Knowing what GPU to buy may be one of the harder choices when building a computer. When looking for a new graphics card, be aware of what equipment you're paring it up with. More expensive doesn't always mean better performance and there are several factors that you should take into consideration before choosing.

  • Does the graphics card itself fit your computer case
  • Does the PSU have enough wattage to supply the graphics card
  • Does the motherboard have PCI-E slots ( Most if not all current motherboard models should)
  • Does it require 6 or 8 pin PCI Express connectors form the PSU
  • Is the CPU limiting the GPU's performance (Low end CPUs can lead to screen tearing and lower frame rates)

Regardless of how you build your computer, your graphics card is going to be your most expensive investment, so you want to make sure that your money is well spent on a reliable and reputable product

Due to its great performance and reasonable price, the GTX 960 is
highly recommended for builders on a budget
